1. What is this place?
This is the second version of Trainer's Life. The first Trainer's Life was beginning to slow down a lot and we decided a remake would be the best thing. We want the site to be back to its former glory.
That said, the point of this site is to focus on the lives of trainers. While it is to focus on the day-to-day life, there needs to be balance between the training and home life.
2. Where do I start?
Pretty much where you would on a normal RP forum. You sign up a character and wait for them to get accepted. After, you make a thread in City Hall to get a license, then go to Prof. David Haranu's home thread which is in the Oceanfront homes board. After that, the place is yours to do with as you please. Go to the mall, catch more Pokemon, go to the park... The decision is yors
3. What's the back story of this place?
That can be found here.
4. What is the Pantheon?
This is a still-evolving concept, but it's sound enough to use in a forum.
The Pantheon is my own personal concept of deities for Pokemon. I know legendaries are supposed to be, but that's just too messy for me to deal with.
My basic concept for saying how legendaries were elevated to the status of gods were that they're extremely close to the Pantheon. But the Pantheon fell a thousand years ago because of rampant corruption from humans. They terrified the shit out of people (pretty much) and removed nearly all traces of themselves throughout the world. There are a few places where they remain (such as Ecruteak City in the Bell Tower and Silver Tower), but they mostly remain unknown. They're making a comeback, however.
5. What is Handling?
It's a concept developed by me in the past 6-12 months (at the time of writing this question, 10.July.10). I liked the idea, so I decided to bring it onto a forum. More information can be found here
6. What is Sedora?
A region of my own making. This forum draws heavily from it. Basic info can be found here.
5. Where does this take place?
This takes place in the Orange Islands on an island called Laletria, one of my own creation. I mentioned the Sedora region above because the founder is from there.
6. Why is there a "race" field on the character form? What do you mean by "dimensions"? What's "zapping"?
On the original TL, we had a hodgepodge of characters of all different races. We had pokemorphs, humans, elves, fairies, dragons, hybrids and everything inbetween and more. Most of these characters come from different worlds or dimensions.
But worlds =/= dimensions. This is an idea of my own also instilled onto the original TL because of my first characters.
A breakdown of current known dimensions (shortened to Ds for simplicity sake)
1st Dimension: Our Earth. There are also multiple different parallel dimensions of this D. You can create a parallel of our D if you need to for your characters. If you do crossovers and the setting is our world, but with minor alterations, you can just say it's a parallel.
ie, I have a character named Suki that's based in an anime called Kaleido Star. It takes place in LA on a place called the Kaleido Stage. That's about the only major change to Earth, thus I'm calling it a parallel dimension to this world.
3rd Dimension: This is my dimension, the one that started it all. Heavily developed, it's an entire solar system.
Quick planet breakdown:
Onshi: Fairies
Yeno: Yeneo (basically the warrior culture)
Kuta: Elves
Drandi: Dragons
Utopia: Unicorns
Medria: Mermaids
Centria: Centaurs
Radia: Planets where the races mix
Basic info on the Yeneo really fast: A warrior culture where the ruling Element is Darkness. They are a fierce and proud people that rarely ever back down from a fight. They are big on manners and politeness. They can be somewhat compared to feudal Japan's culture, though there's only one kingdom (currently). This is from where the Tsukino family originates. (Old TL was crawling with them. currently only one on here, though, unless you count Nate whom lives in Pokeopolis, the old TL)
Last D: This is where all (or most) of the video game, book, comics, anime, ect take place. While between my irl friends and I that RP here a lot (don't ask), they know of the existence of each other, intermingle and everything, they do not know of each other's existences on the forum. Each different anime, video game, book, ect has its own planet. That goes without saying, though, it depends on what you choose to see as a parallel dimension to the 1st D.
As for being "zapped", it's a term that we use here for when someone randomly appears from another dimension or world against their own will.
There are people called D-Hoppers, D-Walkers and T-Walkers that can go back and forth between the dimensions. D-Hoppers more or less just think of the dimension they want to go to and go there, but they need to have another D-Hopper's body to use so they don't draw attention to themselves. D-Walkers use a place called the Paths. Generally, they just stick here and observe the dimensions, rarely getting involved. T-Walkers are Time-Walkers. They can walk between the parallel timelines and dimensions. There are strict regulations, though.
If you want any extended information on the above topics, feel free to PM me. I know it's way confusing at first, but it won't be so bad when you get used to it.
