[Right-o. I got permission from the all mighty master of all that is, Kiki]
Roughly four months before the current time...
Kiai sighed a little as he walked down the shoreline of the ocean, Brian, his Pidgey, flying low beside him. He deeply missed his girlfriend, Soniel; and to a lesser extent, his two friends Markus and Yume. He'd hoped that coming to the ocean to train with his Pokemon would take his mind off her, but he kept getting flashes of her. It was stupid, because he could go see her in the hospital if he wanted to, but she'd told him to go train. In his mind, he was just doing what he was told, however much it bothered him.
Brian landed on his trainer's shoulder and lightly nipped his ear in a friendly way. He hated seeing Kiai like this, felt that he was a part of it and would help in any he could. Kiai smiled naturally and scratched under his friends chin. The Pidgey chirped happily and Kiai smiled again, scanning down the shore for a Pokemon he could battle. He smiled after a few minutes, noticing a Squirtle that looked fairly strong to him. He smiled at the Pidgey, "Tackle 'im, Brian," he said quietly and Brian nodded, swooping off of Kiai's shoulder.
The Squirtle blinked when it noted the bird Pokemon swooshing towards it. Just barely in the nick of time, he inhaled deeply, spitting out an intense spray of water, soaking the bird thourghly and slowing it. Brian shook the water from his feathers and threw himself into the Water type, visciously tackling it. The Squirtle stumbled back into the water, then turned to Brian and fired an Ice Beam at him. Brian dodged with Agility, though his left wing was frozen in the process.
Kiai swore after the Squirtle used Ice Beam, having not expected that at all. He swore again when he noted that Brian's left wing was frozen and heavy for the young bird, who was pulled to the ground. He grabbed the PokeBall on his belt to return Brian, but the bird Pokemon turned to him and chirped loudly, voice full of pride. "Um....all right..." Kiai muttered softly, locking the ball back onto his belt. "Whatever you say, Brian..." He brushed his coconut shaded hair out of his eyes and kept his sapphire blue eyes glued on the battle unfolding in front of him.
The Squirtle adopted an offensive stance, and spat off another Water Gun. Brian, dragging his heavy wing beside him narrowly dodged the spray; which at this point could have been deadly. Brian turned towards him and created a powerful gust with his good wing, hitting the Squirtle head on with it, who stumbled even further back into the water, then fired off another quick and powerful Water Gun. This time, however, Brian twisted ever so slightly so his frozen wing hit the spray. The ice shattered and Brian shook his cold, but now, free wing.
Kiai watched on in astonshiment at the scene going on before him; he'd been a trainer for almost four years now and would have never thought to do what Brian had. The Pokemon was barely a year old! Kiai shook his head, but couldn't help but feel a burst of pride in his chest from watching the Pokemon he had raised do such a strategic manuever in battle. He smiled thinly, "I wonder what Mark would think of this..." He muttered under his breath, then turned to watch and see what the strategist of a Pidgey would do next.
The Squirtle stared on as Brian's wing shimmered and hardened, taking on a metal sheen as he prepared to use a Steel Wing. He tore towards the Squirtle, who narrowly avoided a blow to the head from the sharpened wing. Brian veered sharply and turned to hit the Squirtle again, wings still made of Steel. This time, however, the Squirtle was ready, and jumped into Brian, using a Skull Bash to almost completely subdue the Pidgey. The Pidgey glared at him and used an Endeavor attack, knocking the Squirtle back on his feet, and into the water.
Kiai smiled and readied a Pokeball. He'd never had a Squirtle before; so this would be a new experience. He reeled back, closed his eyes, and threw.
"Magikarp!" The fish, golden in hue and ever sparkling in the sun lept out of the water and intercepted the Pokeball. Kiai's eyes whipped open and he stared at the Poke ball.

"WHAT?!" Kiai shouted, staring at the Pokeball as the Squirtle swam away. "This is insanity!" Kiai shouted, recalling Brian to his Pokeball. He picked up the ball that had captured the golden Magikarp. A Premier ball, no less. The thing had cost him an extra ten dollars. At this point, Kiai hadn't noticed that the Magikarp was golden and was feeling royally screwed. He swore loudly and clipped the ball onto his belt. "Stupid thing!" He kicked at the sand and swore again when his shoe met a rock buried under the ground. He buried his hands in his pockets and stormed off down the shore.
